I am performing a potentiostaic EIS in a 3-electrode system in which the electrolyte is 1M KOH + EtOH and the WE, CE, and REF are Pd thin film on GC, Pt wire, and Ag/AgCl respectively.

The applied the EIS at -0.5 V, -0.2 V, and +0.1 V vs REF and the spectra are shown below.

I understand the the behavior from the -0.5 V to -0.2 V vs REF as due to the reduced charge transfer resistance (due to higher applied potential) would decrease the arc radius. The opposite is expected when we move from the -0.2V to 0.1V vs REF because the surface is blocked after -0.1V vs REF. Still a semicircle with a larger arc is anticipated.

What I am trying to explore is why the shape does not resemble a semicircle at all by applying +0.1V. It seems with decreasing the frequency below a certain point, an obvious increase in the DL capacity component could be observed. However, why at the 0.1V and not at -0.5V and -0.2V especially I thought the capacity component would not change with the potential.

The frequency applied is 10000 to 1 Hz and AC amplitude is 5 mV.

Any ideas or thoughts please?
