It is known that reduced-till or no-till farming reduces the emission of greenhouse gases especially carbon dioxide. This reduction is attributed reduction of soil microbial activity due to reduction in air supply. However, reduced tillage or no tillage in root/rhizome/tuber/bulb or similar crops can reduce yield in a major way which is dis-incentive for growers to adopt the technology. So what alternative options can be applied to these crops so that there is reduction in greenhouse gases from the soil and at the same time growers do not lose the income. I have observed the reduction in yield in potato and ginger under reduced tillage conditions. I want to request for your input in the form of input, literature, suggestions and perspectives. I thank you for your time and effort.
