We are using silicon fertilser to reduce the requirement of inroganic fertiliser in potato farming with an intention to derive a value. Could you have experience of using silicon fertiliser to reduce requirement of chemical fertiliser in potato farming. What percentile of chemical fertiliser can be reduced? Since, silicon fertiliser only seems to play the role of facilitator, can supplementing silicon fertiliser reduce the total requirement of chemical fertiliser in the long run? Please provide relevant literature, particularly with reference potato cultivation. Thank you
Yadunath, silicon fertilizer can improve biotic and abiotic stresses of plants. It may contribute to crop improvement by improving the plants defense response and protect plants from insect attack, disease and environmental stresses. In potato cultivation plants fertilized with silicon developed better tubers. P use efficiency and availability can be increased with the application of Si in potato. Be aware that many Si fertilisers increase the pH of acidic soils and that under such circumstances you need additional 'controls' to separate the effects.

Besides that, Yadunath, Si fertilizer in liquid form in the mixture with fungicides can be effective drugs for autumn seed potatoes etching and foliar spraying during vegetation. Against the background of a decrease in the consumption rates of pesticides in mixtures with Si fertilizer the greatest yield of potatoes can be obtained.

si fertilizers by depositing silicon on the auther wall of epidermal cells reduces evaporation and modification reduce water retention and increases stomatal conductance and prevents plant stress,..

However, how would the addition of Si fertilizer (organic fertilizer) reduces the use of chemical fertilizers like NPK in potato crops please? Best regards
