1. Go into your word document.
2. At the top of your screen go to the prompt “Reference”
3. Select style and the down arrow to choose APA
4. Select the area you are citing and click insert citation. Add the new source.
5. in the create source box type in citation details and click ok
APA can change their formats, therefore you can create your own updated version of style or build your own custom styles.

The best solution is to install a reference manager like EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, etc.
They have an integrated interface with MS Word.
And once all citations are inserted in the manuscript, it takes just a few clicks and seconds to change from one reference style to another.
I use Zotero. It is free and also provides a chrome extension for use in google-docs.
