I fabricated various samples through SLM technique of 316L SS. after grinding and polishing , i used HNO3 , HCL, distilled H2O in equal ratio for etching the samples for 90 seconds and 140 seconds. the picture of 90 and 140 seconds etched samples are attached with. also etch some samples with aqua regia for 50,70,90,120 seconds , but failed to get a profile . for equal ratio etching solution the results are too dark and hence can not differentiate between grains and their boundaries, please help me identify issue, either its the problem with the chemical or time i used it for , or something to do with the surface of my specimens
