Could anyone kindly help me with nice examples of plants controling the resource production or availability? I mean, examples of plants controling nectar (which is more common), pollen (have some ex. of heteranthery), oil or fragrance availability? Also, when possible relating it to pollinators visitation or pollen receive. Thank you all in advance!
Some Malpighiaceae species can control the oil availability according to anthesis period. Although in some species the oil-collecting bee collect this resource previously of anthesis, in other species of family the floral oil is available only when the buds open. So, there is a kind of control waiting visitors only when there is pollination probability.
I think some papers of floral biology says about this previous oil collection, but I have no sure of a paper which tested exactly this or its implications to plant reproduction.
