it is about the ionic strength of water. Accordingly, a suitable estimate of the activity coefficients (Davies or Pitzer) and the corresponding thermodynamic database are chosen. This is described in the version 3 manual. Example 1 uses seawater. The ionic strength of 0.67 is a bit too much for Davies' calculation, so the Pizer model should be used instead. My question was scarce in information. I’d like to use Phreeqc for speciation in seawater and the metals that I need aren’t in Pitzer database and SIT database is no complete.
Well, that's hard then. I also encountered a similar problem when calculating Ba and Sr speciation in brines. No one can come up with Pitzer coefficients so easily. All that remains is to look in the literature. What metal is it?
