Hi guys, I am modeling a porous medium in OpenFOAM and I need to know if is there a way to set de permeability as a function of position?. I am adding the source term in the fvoption file. In some forums, guys recommended using the swak4foam nevertheless, I haven't found an example to do.

Here is a simple way. You can create permeability "filed" form the createField.c file. At the same time, you need to modify the source codes where the permeability variable is used. By default the permeability is a parameter, which means the data type is a constant. So if you create a field for permeability, you may need to change the data type to scalarField. When you do these changed, you can recompile your code. After do that, you need to create a variable in the 0 file, and assign value of permeability for each. An easy way to do this is copying the pressure file and change the file name to the porosity name used in the code. And you can assign values for each cell and face in boundaries if necessary. Then you can run the recompiled solver as before.

Gregorio Josué Martínez Sánchez Hi, if you create a permeability field, then it should be a "scalarField", which means it will be the same as pressure. So you can open the createFields.C file and the copy the texts for pressure, and modify "p" to permeabiliy, e.g., kp. Hope this is helpful to you.
