We have a few recent cases where membrane separation is used to purify the biogas up to NG quality as to inject the bioNG in the public NG grid. This performs well except for membrane fouling which seems largely irreversible requiring new membranes over time. Hence for most of our biomethane projects we stick with our proven biogas purification strategy starting in the bioreactors to remove H2S and other pollutants followed if necessary by bioscrubbing, then by condensate removal with demister and then by drying to get clean, dry biogas with up to 80% CH4 for direct use in all heat and/or power generation applications (including in vehicles after compression). If bioNG quality would be required then we remove the CO2 by cooling and any residual pollutants by adsorption.
