How can i distinguish with an experimental procediment a sample of organic substance of an inorganic substance.
The burning with dark fume is good test but not advised by green chemistry. But you could do primary test using wetting behavior. In other words, most inorganic salts adsorbs water molecules (hydrophilic) in contrast with organic materials which mostly hydrophobic. You could also use this same idea through using the drying ability behavior. Organic materials get dry from water easily in contrast with inorganic using sensitive balance.
Simply by burning the substance, type of flame decides whether the compound is organic or inorganic.
But these experiments creates pollution so under Green Chemistry noms , these tests has to stopped!!!

organic compost is not water soulble . in organic compost materials mostly water soulble. or else inorganic compost go for salt analysis for any salts.
