Yes, surely, the roles of teacher as well as the student would change. I thin, any new generation has more information than the previous one. That is what i have observed in my own students. They may not need spoon-feeding as the earlier generations did.
When a new order emerges, the older changes. That is the law of life. I think there is not going to any problem, as the teacher would be there to guide the student in case of need. But the teacher would learn less in the process. I believe, teaching is the best form of learning.

It will redefine teaching! But I have always stressed that face to face interaction, live discussions are more beneficial than the virtual ones! Of course, one cannot ignore the benefits of on line teaching but that cannot be the only teaching. It should be supplemented with traditional teaching.
Yes of course, its true Dr Bani-Hani. We have to adapt, the purpose should be our primary aim and priority. If possible, It should be supplemented with traditional teaching.
Different teachers/students may have different talents, so for some teachers/students e-learning/e-education might be a more efficient method to learn/educate than for other teachers/students.
the teacher need not spend more time to lecture but can spend time to clarify areas of concerns while understanding the topic.... provide more examples than that already covered in the on-line content... ..In addition inspite of repeated lecturing the content will be same and homogeneous over various sessions and different classes or even locations; students can also learn the content at their convenient setting need not necessarily be in a lecture hall to listen to it.....further the teacher can also find "who wants what support" in the class, rather than just guessing and generalizing that students would have understood the lecture..
I was an advocate of e-learning & open on-line courses in the year 2001 when there was turmoil in our country & it was very difficult for the students & lecturers to move from one town to another. The bosses, at that time, rejected the idea & insisted upon attendance of the lecturers ignoring the risks which they faced. The students were compelled to live near the University.
Later on, the bosses saw the universities around us implementing this type of teaching-learning so in the last few years it was adopted partially. We found out that a blend (of the old-style & the modern-style types) is better with more emphasis upon the old-style. The students, who come from high schools, are used to the old-style so they need gradual adaptation.
The role of a teacher has been changing over many years it is the tools that have recently changed. Research has shown that a good teacher will perform will no matter the mode or method used. Good teachers tend to use whatever is available to get their student to learn more. In short while the role may differ those who care will always out perform those who don't.
