Now, the focus of this question is actions of different communities.
I do participate (I posted "#pdftribute for Aaron and a better world - papers at http://behaviorchange.eu/pdftribute" to my networks). It does not affect my opinion - I think that when scientific research is paid for by public money, all products of that research should become freely available. Yes to all 3 questions. Aaron Swartz suicide shows that persecution of Open Access activists needs to be undermined. One way to do that is making OA the default in scientific publishing, dragging the carpet from under the publishers' feet.
