Alternative ways of taking medical university exams are necessary for the time of presence covid 19 crisis. in the meantime assessing the students with respect to kinesthetic and motor domain of learning is still a challenge. In context of Nepal, online theory exam would be possible. Yet challenges are there especially with academic dishonesty and inadequate internet facility especially in rural areas of Nepal. Although online theory exam could be accepted for low stake exam, it may not be true for high stake exams given the convention of taking those exam in college with stringent invigilation and the validation from external exam. Moreover practical exam is another hard knot to crack if we think to conduct such exam in the similar fashion as it used to be conducted with stations and viva. It could be possible, if the modality exam is changed where skill examination is not required. But I think skill exam needs to taken in person otherwise the validity of exam will be questionable.
