Relevant to a previous question I asked about Zoom in the classroom.
Our university is implementing strict guidelines when it comes to social distancing in the classroom. Our students will be spaced apart with limited contact between the instructor and fellow learners. Instructors are to remain in front of the classroom away from students.
We will not be able to use pair practice for conversation classes. For language instruction I have always found this to be a vital and useful exercise to gauge fluency and understanding.
Does anyone have any suggestions or comments?

You can communicate with students group of 5-10 students vis Zoom or Webex, or others. However, there are still limitations, and I think these tools will improve significantly and possibly new systems will be in the market soon. I believe this is an area which everyone needs these days, and maybe after the crisis.
Let students record audios of a tele-conversation on a given topic, to then send or upload it to you via Whattsapp/ Microsoft teams/ Feedbackfruits etc. You can then give detailed feedback by listening to their conversation. They can even do this from home.
Thank you to everyone who has replied. My university may require that we use zoom or some other format very soon. Most of us here have never used that tool before or conducted online classes. It is causing a lot of anxiety and frustration among the instructors.
I have no experience with experience with Flipgrid - a social learning for PreK to PhD learners ... and beyond, but somehow it seems very interesting to explore...
In my university we use teams (microsoft) and google meet It works very well.
Update: My university will use Zoom as the prefered method starting shortly. the university has purchased an educator account. We must register with the school and it provides more security. We will begin in about another week or so. We have had practice sessions amongst the fellow teachers to familiarize ourselves and learn the basics.

Update. I have used Zoom now for nearly a semester. It has its faults but has been very functional. Along with Google Classroom (free edition), it has been a confusing, frustrating, and occasionally satisfying time. The students on the other hand seem very exhausted from the extra homework and assignments that has been thrust upon them. Our university may go back to a combination F2F and zoom content from October 1st.
Has your university made a decision about how to proceed? Are you going to use combination of face-to-face and Zoom content?
