Omar - if I had my PhD first-year time back again (which I am glad that I don't) - I would have stuck at what I fist started with. I moved three universities during my PhD studies and have to basically start afresh each time - which significantly delayed the final outcome. It's a also a lot of administrative paperwork to keep repeating when moving from one institution to another.
What I would not do is assume that each chapter draft that I submit (including the first one) is the 'final' version. Especially, in the early years of a PhD - versions can only ever be drafts until the final document goes in for examination. Even then, with potential emendations, they may change.
