In the CST manual it is mentioned that CST works by discretising maxwell's integral equation. It is also mentioned that for CST Microwave Studio, it uses central finite difference techniques for time derivatives. In some manual it is mentioned that CST works by using the FDTD technique. Please clarify which computational technique CST really works.
It's not FDTD. It is based on FIT method (Finite Integral Technique) which deals with integral equations instead of differential

As I understand it, FIT and FDTD are very similar. Whereas MOM code really solves the integral equations, FIT is actually a Finite difference method based on a small scale interpretation of Maxwells equations (as opposed to a large scale Integral equation approach). The formulation of the FIT uses voltage and currents, ie integral of E and H fields, again on a staggered grid, just like FDTD.
CST uses FIT, but if you go to the details of the solver, you will find the the solutions of integral of E and H fields. So the main theme is same as FDTD.
