Null and alternative hypothesis, if necessary to include in the research, mainly quantitative, then include them, they are easy to write;
Alternative hypothesis is also known as researcher hypothesis and researcher is always willing to research about some effect or association between or among independent and dependent variables (in case of quantitative research)
Example
Alternative hypothesis which is also written as Ha or H1: Increased consumption of junk food leads to increased BMI (Body Mass Index).
Null hypothesis also written as Ho: Increased consumption of junk food has no effect on BMI.
Null always talks about no effects; but Alternative or researcher hypothesis always talks about finding some effects, association, correlation,
Another Example
Ha: Sedentary life style leads to increased blood glucose levels or type II Diabetes Mellitus
Ho: Sedentary life style does not have effect on blood glucose levels or initiation of Type II Diabetes Mellitus
My understanding is if you write a quantitative study (stats), then a hypothesis should be presented in the manuscript. If the study is qualitative (themes), then state the topics of inquiry, explain what factors will be explored, acknowledge any bias, and the hypothesis is therefore optional. The qualitative research is to identify patterns or any hidden patterns. At any rate, a hypothesis or null-hypothesis may strengthen any proposed outcomes.
Both are important and provide researchers with an approximate description of the phenomena and a relational statement that is directly tested in a research study.
Yes. We do agree to these Professors/Educators /Scientists , Scott Mavers and Hassan Izzeddin Sasak, address the concern which I strongly agree. With appreciation to them and Congratulations. Hypothesis, whether it is null or alternate shows it s relational or difference of the variables, and indeed important in the Q@uantitative study.

Both are important. The null hypothesis is a general statement that states that there is no relationship between two phenomenons under consideration or that there is no association between two groups. An alternative hypothesis is a statement that describes that there is a relationship between two selected variables in a study. https://microbenotes.com/null-and-alternative-hypothesis/
The null hypothesis is the one to be tested and the alternative is everything else. In our example, The null hypothesis would be: The mean data scientist salary is 113,000 dollars. While the alternative: The mean data scientist salary is not 113,000 dollars. https://365datascience.com/null-hypothesis/
The null hypothesis allows the acceptance of correct existing theories and the consistency of multiple experiments. Alternative hypothesis are important as it establishes a relationship between two variables, resulting in new improved theories https://microbenotes.com/null-and-alternative-hypothesis/
If the P-value is less than (or equal to) , then the null hypothesis is rejected in favor of the alternative hypothesis. And, if the P-value is greater than , then the null hypothesis is not rejected. ... If the P-value is less than (or equal to) , reject the null hypothesis in favor of the alternative hypothesis. https://online.stat.psu.edu/statprogram/reviews/statistical-concepts/hypothesis-testing/p-value-approach
Both are important for the research. They are related to formulated decision. For example, null hypothesis refers to that certain value equals to another value, while the alternative hypothesis referes to that both values are unequal. Your decison based on a certain test to prove which one is correct.
