We recently found an easy way for the proteomic sample prep. Rather than separation the BM proteins and analyzing each gel band one by one, we found that we can solubilize the BMs samples by digestion with bacterial collagenase followed by trypsin. The Mass spec analyis is done in one shot MS runs. We just had our paper accepted for PlosOne, and I ma happy to mail you the pre-print. It would save yyou a lot of time and MS-time. Our paper compares human retinal vascuar BMs from diabetic and non-diabetic donors.
