As many of you might know, the use of DCM is starting to be limited. My chemical engineering department will not allow us to order it anymore. We currently use it as the solvent in a CTA coupling reaction with 5-norbornene-2-methanol. The reaction consists of the NB-MeOH, the CTA (DDMAT), EDC, and DMAP. We tried using THF but EDC was insoluble. Has anyone used any other solvents when running this reaction?
