The best way to go about zeroing on a particular question for your PhD topic is to first dive into the topic, and one of the best ways to do it is to look at some of the recent reviews and papers on the subject matter. I have attached a number of papers for you below that should give you some idea about the current research trends in this topic. I would also strongly recommend that you try to directly contact researchers who are currently doing research in your field of interest to get their input. The papers below should give you enough information to find out who is working in this field. I think that most researchers will be happy to assist you. Good luck.
