Can anyone suggest an MSc that can train up my systematics and taxonomic knowledge of plant? So far I don't really have a specific topic I want to work on. I just hope to polish my skills in phylogenetics and basic plant knowledge. Thanks!
Suggestion given by Palash Roy is nice and Valuable. Many Universities are offering only M.Sc Plant science or Botany. Taxonomy is only one of the paper in 1 st or 2 nd semesters. Instead of pursuing M.Sc degree in Botany or Plant science, M.Sc Biodiversity and Taxonomy is more helpful for enhancing and polishing the skills in systematic studies of plants.
Yes. Working on a single taxon or species is very much interesting and good for science. There are so many aspects can taken for study . Like geographical distribution of the taxon, phenotypic variation of the taxon, phenology in different regions, micromorphology etc. Eventually you may discover new knowledge which was not recorded in previous literature. In a long run you will be able to solve the nomenclature problems with the taxon. Biosystematic study also can be done later.
The University of Edinburgh, UK (Edinburgh, Scotland) offers one year M. Sc. course on 'Biodiversity and Taxonomy of Plants', which is considered as an excellent program.
