Here is a question for Sn Researchers. How do you stay motivated while pursuing long term research that can span years?

Intrinsic motivation is important. Overwhelming extrinsic motivation (money, career, etc.) detract from intrinsic motivation.

Variation helps to keep motivation up. Be not all the time focused on the same project but have more than one project running. Thus have more simultaneous projects, but running over a period of time avoiding overburden .
