Suppose we have an unknown antibiotic. By agar diffusion assay we can determine its minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). From the same data, we can infer whether the diffusion of antibiotic is a free diffusion or interacts with the matrix gel. So, is there a way to infer more information about the unknown antibiotic (like molecular weight or its other properties) just by manipulation of the data from agar diffusion assay?

As far as I know, there is no such methods to get molecular properties from agar diffusion assay's data.
Hi, Agar diffusion assay is a primary in vitro test to determine the antibacterial activity of a test antibiotic. The only parameter, what we observe is the zone of inhibition. We cannot infer any other properties. We cannot determine MIC from agar diffusion assay.
