Moderator is a variable that influences the relationship between both IV & DV. So, does that mean, "Moderator influences both IV & DV simultaneously"?

For example, Age/Experience would act as a Moderators in the relationship between Stress(IV)--------->Performance(DV).

One can say that, Age/Experience influences(moderate) the relationship b/w Stress(IV)--------->Performance(DV).

Does it also mean that, "Age/Experience" is influencing both Stress & Performance simultaneously?
