Dear Researchers. I want to know what would be the best method to separate Biphenyls from mixture of Trimethyl phenyl silane and salts?
In a model reaction I want to purify biphenyl from a mixture of my reactacnts (florobenzene and trimethyl silyl benzene) and salt formed.I have tried coloumn chrmatography but it still contasins trimethylsilane signals and also I have lost so much product. Need suggestions?

I would suggest you to do recrystallization. Biphenyls are very almost non polar without functionality. Try one or two components solvent such Ethyl acetate or MeOH/DCM. Your product should crystallize out.
Hello, I would suggest you first to wash your organic medium with aqueous solution to remove salts, then dry the organic phase and evaporate the solvent, then recrystallize the solid trying different solvents as suggested by Adil Aslam. You can also try to recrystallize in acetone (if your product is insoluble in acetone).

Rafaela Raupp da Rosa Ok I will try it. Put I did re-crystallization of Solid/powdered samples but this transparent product is in liquid state.
Muhammad Saleem As you mentioned it is 1 mL. I believe, it is a lot, you can use about 0.5 mL to recrystallize from methanol/ ethanol, some low boiling solvent. It should work out.
