I would like to know is there any standard codes available for mix design for this (IS10262)? Can you tell me your views and experiences regarding this?
Lightweight aggregates have much water absorption capacities (up to 25%). As long as you assure that the LWAs are in saturated surface dry (SSD) state you can follow the conventional mix design procedures obeying the limitations given in EFNARC. In EFNARC specifications there are some certain limitations for SCC properties such as water-to-cement ratio, powder content, aggregate size etc. Therefore, I suggest you to determine a proper water/binder content, total powder content, aggregate size and grading according to EFNARC. Then using specific gravity values of the materials you can easily make mix design. Your most critical material is LWA in SSD condition. Therefore you should carefully determine the specific gravity in SSD state.
