Mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) have shown promise in neurodevelopmental disorders. For instance, studies have indicated that MBIs can improve attention, emotional regulation, and social functioning in individuals with conditions like autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) (PMID: 32119131, PMID: 29454578). Additionally, some research suggests that MBIs may lead to structural and functional changes in the brain associated with these disorders, as observed through neuroimaging techniques (PMID: 27304211). However, more controlled studies with larger sample sizes and standardized outcome measures are needed to further establish the efficacy and mechanisms of MBIs in these populations.
