For Pb detection in milk, the sample was treated with HNO3 & HCLO4(2:1) at 1200 at digestion chamber but sample was burned.I ran the sample 13 hours without any break and the burned milk sample color was dark brown.
while analyzing the inorganic components, ashing and complete digestion of the samples is needed. this is because the organic fraction of milk that is fat, lactose, caesin etc will be oxidised and only ask content will be left. so these will not interfere in mineral analysis.
I am agree with Mr. Partha Sarathi, that ashing and complete digestion of the samples is needed for analyzing of any inorganic components. For proper oxidation of the milk components like fat, lactose, caesin etc. Milk sample shouldbe burned at digestion chamber.
Dr. Sarathi mentioned the situation very well but I like to add that some minerals volatile in high temp. such as selenium, phosphorus or .... So you must consider this fact to have a accurate measure.
