Hi All,
I have to cover some regions of my antenna with a microwave absorber in CST to observe its effects. However, I cant find any suitable pre-defined material in CST which can act as an absorber.
After going through some research material, I reckon that refined carbon ash can act as an absorber. However, I cant find its properties anywhere to create my own material in CST.
Any suggestions/ guidelines would be appreciated.

You can use the preloaded absorbers material from Eccosorb, then define the material in CST, or you can define a new material in CST and make tan delta very high.

yes, you have any chances to define a absorber with CST. At first you can arrise the tan delta , or you can arrise the imaginary part of the permeability , permittivity or resistivity.

Could you help provide more details regarding the absorption due to high imaginary part of epsilon, miu, and R? Do the three cases take effect equally for all cases? For example, I cover the three types of material over a microstrip line, are the absoprtion mechanism the same?

If you want to prevent the electromagnetic radaition from propagating in a specific direction you can also reflect it by a highly conducting metallic surface such as copper. You can also absorb the electromagnetic waves by insulating materials whose polarization losses represented by the complex dielectric constant of the materials. Making such materials partially conducting will increases the losses by conduction losses.
In all these cases the material is represented by a real dielectric constant and imaginary dielectric constant.
You can also match the medium impedance by terminating it with the characteristic impedance.
