The findings from such experimental tracking, if carried out systematically and in great detail, may potentially reveal arrays of new scientific facts of which materials researchers have,so far, uncovered only a small number. More often than not, nanometric entities behave unpredictably, given that nanoscience is not yet well understood at the fundamental level. Thus judicious experimentation-the one suggested here may or may not be so-should hold the greatest promise towards this understanding.
Your question is very relevant and in many ways similar to the questions I encountered during the course of my PhD research. Absolutely, there are plethora of books, papers written about uniform grain size either at microscale or at nanoscale. But I have not encountered any paper for something in between these scales, at least in the case of spinel ferrites. Moreover transition from one scale to another has also not been studied/reported. Much of the research in the ceramic materials is compartmentalized. So it will be difficult find something in between.
