I have prepared Mgo nanoparticles by leaf extract and precursor salt solution?first i characterized by xrd, i have got correct xrd peaks similar to the literature but not geting mgo uv peaks. why it so?
The UV peak is provided by nanoparticles of gold, silver and noble metals with a metallic crystal lattice due to surface plasmons. Nanoparticles magnesium oxide has an ionic crystal lattice and they do not have such a dimensional effect. Therefore, there is no absorption in the visible spectrum. There are articles to obtain magnesium oxide nanoparticles from magnesium nitrate and plant extract. However, there is no evidence that plant substances participate in the reaction. Does the reaction involve water?
yes water is involved sir, solvent which i used through out the reaction is water only...but zno also i synthesized which i got uv peaks similar to literature value but mgo is not gettig
ZnO has a covalent crystal lattice. Therefore, you have absorption in the ultraviolet region of the spectrum due to the pi-pi * transitions of the electrons.
