I would be grateful if someone could send me some information about metal recovery from old mining tailings and dams. Recovery from the solid mining waste or from its acid drainage. I am especially interested in real site cases please.
Thank you very much. It seems very interesting. As you probably know, there are a lot of old tailings in Spain with Cu, Zn and Pb. The main goal to reach is the remediation of course, but I want to study the possibility of obtain some metals too.
hi Arturo, there's an ongoing study in my institute, looking at health impacts of dust from gold mine tailings and they obviously characterize the dust. i can send you contacts of one of the involved scientist
Heap leaching using acid/bacteria may be considered for recovery of metal from mining tailings/ dams.Metal present in tailing has to be considered before selecting the process.
Thanks Mr Sukla, I'm impressed with your research background taking into account your publications. I'm trying to develop my PhD on mining waste in the School of Mines of Madrid. Firstly I'm working in a state of art about real experiences and available processes regarding metal recovery from tailings/dumps and probably in future I'll try to study a particular case in Spain.
Sir, With India's scenario, (1) gold can be recovered in huge quantities from the old hilly waste dumps by simple Ore dressing techniques at Kolar region, Karnataka; (2) nickel from the lateritic dumps of Sukinda region, Odisha; (3) titanium from the lateritic duricrusts of Madhya Pradesh-Jharkhand bauxite deposits, and (4) rare-earths from the lateritic zones of Eastern Ghats. Huge amount of publications are available in these lines of study, but the national funding agencies do not consider these valuable assets; as they could not come across these facts - the most unfortunate situation of our great nation!

May I sugges that MR.Lala Sukla be associated with me in a major research project, so that I can show all the old mining areas for recovery of metals from the age old dumps and slurries; for which I am ready to associate.
