Does your "a" path in a mediation model (i.e., the path from the IV to the mediator) need to be significant in order to show mediation? Hayes & Rockwood (2016, p. 5 "by contemporary thinking...," Behaviour Research & Theory) seem to be suggesting otherwise.
I have run into this issue with a recent analysis. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
