I am working on a research will examine the possibilities of applying BRT mode of Rapid Transit, from cost and duration of project point of view, into the route planed already for Tramway or LRT.
I think the following link can help you. Victoria Transport Institution is valuable source of information in this regard. Here you can find some important references and examples about BRT which I think you will find useful.
Standards BRT: dedicated Right-of-Way, busway alignment, off-board fare collection, intersection treatments, platform-level boarding etc. - see website the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy.
A classical BRT example is Curitiba in Brasil. Special BRT busses have been promoted by Volvo - you may look at their websites. Phileas is a special BRT in Eindhoven. Cambridge has an interesting BRT on a short section. Look also for Instanbul.
Be sure to differentiate advances of BRT compared to modern tram (LRT) from advances of BRT over old public transport systems. Many descriptions of successes of modern transport schemes mix them.
