Does anybody use Oxoid MSA agar plate as main medium for nasal screening for MRSA?

Do you have the problem that Gram negative bacteria grows after 24 hours +35'C +/- 2'C incubation period under aerobic condition.

Isn't the MSA media due to it's high salt content (7.5%), only Halophile and Staphylococcus sp. can growth on MSA? Some strains like Proteus mirabilis only very limited growth.

Why when I culture with Klebsiella sp., E. coli, and patient nasal swab sample, Gram-negative bacilli grows?

Any ideas? Or does anybody has any suggestion what media can be used for MRSA screening beside MSA and Mueller Hinton + 4% NaCl + Oxacillin ?
