LVTOT or LVHAR of doing macroscopic electrostatic potential in VASP ?

I know that lvhar includes the ionic potential and the Hartree potential, while lvtot is the total potential. I want to use the bulk plus band lineup method to calculate. In the bulk calculation, the macroscopic electrostatic potential of lvhar is 0, and lvtot yields a more negative value. Most people online seem to use lvhar for their calculations. So, which one should I use ?
