Hi!

I have been looking into the possibilites of crosslinking keratin fibers using non-toxic cheap crosslinkers such as citric acid. Some groups have managed to crosslink gliadin fibers at 50 deg C using citric acid as crosslinker, by increasing pH. The idea is that a higher pH catalyzes the reaction due to deprotonation of the acids and the amine groups in the protein.

Do you think this could be possible when using keratin fibers instead? From my understanding, the keratin may be less reactive than gliadin.
