I'm interested in family violence but specifically regarding mothers as abusers within the family. As research focuses on males as more likely abusers within such relationships, I feel that this may be a cultural phenomenon but I also feel it is a hidden one. What do you think?...or am I wrong?

I am interested in the study, Please include Uganda in the case study, I will help you to collect data from police records, prison, human right organizations, NGOs, and etc. Yes it is based on culture, age at the time of marriage, number of children, income levels, number of wives in the home, level of education both the wife and husband, poverty, food levels, availability of police post in the area, role played by women in the family if supersede the man roles, number of dependants. I can also locate for you the literature here in Uganda with good stories.

it obviously is a cultural phenomenon,as you ,yourself has mentioned but important thing is what motivated you to work on this topic.is this idea based on your observation or you read some article,report or any other literature on it.the answer to your question is actually with yourself i guess.
I'm actually motivated by some research I've done in this area plus observations made in my own work with children victims of abuse. I'm interested to find out whether women, as perpetrators, were themselves victims of abuse or/and how prevalent is the problem. It could be a cultural phenomenon but it could be motivated by several other factors. It is finding out what these factors are and how hidden are they.

this appears to be an iconoclastic , ironically mainstream or probably misogynistic study , I just can figure out the focus on female violators and abusers , cant assign it to a certain philosophical or social framework , whats more , I need to know more about the specific probably local or idiosyncratic motive evoking such a question , interesting and profound regardless.
