Hi,
I'm writing an essay currently on an ethical dilemma were someone i cared for was catatonic. I'm looking for literature aound healthcare professionals not wanting to provide certain types of care as they feel its not their role, their resposibilities and that they are not competent in that area so feel it is not their job.
Can anyone recommend anything?

You might want to search the moral distress literature. This was originally focused on nursing (the moral distress scale was develoepd in nursing), but has expanded to critical care health professionals, palliative care, oncology, neonatal, etc. Given that moral distress can arise when one feels pressured to do something one thinks isn't right (either by colleagues, systems, etc.) I would think it likely that some thing of this nature might be found. That is, due to systemic or other circumstances being forced/pressured to provide care one feels one isn't the right person to provide (this is slightly different than your question of refusal but refusing might come up).
