I think, the question does not need further explanation as the question is clear and concise, we have to explain why and where we use chi square while doing quantitative analysis?
Because we are uncertain about what we think we have found - (at least) two sources of that uncertainty- not much information has been garnered (sample size); the thing we are studying is heterogeneous; and this is something specific we want to make a judgement about in the presence of this uncertainty.
The chi-squared test is used to determine whether there is a significant difference between the expected frequencies and the observed frequencies in one or more categories.
