I would argue that the answer is observer and context dependent. It is possible to see a white box as less and bore or as less and more just because of its relation with its surrounding and social context. Therefore, when designing it seems to me more important to reflect on the relational aspect of the building (with context, society, etc) than to try to frame it as less or more or bore or....
