We are seeing our Arabidopsis plants exhibit downward leaf curling since we changed out all our fluorescent T8 bulbs for LED. It could always be something else going on, but this is the biggest change lately in the growth room. The overall temperature of the room is the same as before the change, however the air close to the lights is of course going to be a little cooler. Is there any way the lights could be the cause (either by lowering the adjacent temperature or change in color balance), or should I look more towards nutrition? The leaves are still really green and the plants don't appear to be damaged.
in my opinion if changing the LED lamps causes sever change in temperature, or even a trivial change that lower the tempt to sub optimal level, then the problem is supposed to rest on low nutrient uptake efficiency due to sub optimal temperature, phosphorus is the first nutrient that plant ceases to uptake in low tempt, then......
I believeI believe that you should look for spectral changes caused by light source substitution. Some types of LED can increase the amounts of supplementary UV-B light resulting in more pronounced epinasty of the blade edges. In this way, you can check it using a spectroradiometer.
Your plants look pretty normal to me. Unless you are studying leaf morpholoty, don't worry about it.
