Hi everyone, I have a question about classify Landsat-1 MSS. Some body have information about the methodology/steps to classify this type of image. I don´t know if the data downloaded from USGS is pre processing or I need some special procedures?
Some body knows if the data is terrain corrected and which procedure needs to has a correct calibration?
I appreciate if you can share with me some papers or extra information about the procedure, please.

Landsat data from USGS come in 2 formats -- images (transparencies), or computer compatible magnetic tapes (CCTs). To analyze the former, use a light table. For the latter, computer processing using image processing software is required.

If you are using L1T format, you may do not need to do terrain correction except the elevation of your study region affects the DN value a lot. If not, it also depends on your study region and study objective. Generally, in flat area, doing terrain correction or not do not have much difference in classification result.
I did the topographic correction in this paper because my study region is mountainous. Please see the attached file.
Thanks to all for the recommendations. I dowloanded the data from USGS, the data in terrain corrected and resized to 60m, has 4 bands. I obtain a classification but exist a lot of noise puntually at crops areas, but the water and forest has very good classification. I never worked with spectral sign, I don´t know if there application of Spectral sing to Landsat 1 MSS is usefull?.
