No topic is a heavy-weighted topic for research papers, especially related to English literature. Its our choice, interest and kind of input exerted together makes the researched output heavy-weighted. Even the celebrated researchers of all times were little sure whether there topic is heavy-weighted until they reached the final destination.

Its unanimously accepted that genuine research begins beneath our legs which philosophically require to putting efforts in the direction of Think Globally and Act Locally.

Overall research remain a journey from General to Particular and the same is destined to lead to the selection of the right topic. Its great that you have prior publications and having some research tools in hand.

For research in literature listen to voice of your heart for choosing the genre that stirs your heart. Based on your experience and temperament select the research tools (whether qualitative or quantitative). Select the by problem by preferring the little or least explored area than the exhausted one.

Whel! English Literature is massive subject which area you would like to go. Literature is not my field that's why I can't help you how to narrow down it more and pinpoint it over.

If you could better look at your interest in literature then need to decided which area. Then before you would like to go for your desire area heavy waited understand what is research and types to research then I could help you how to move further in which direction.

I am an independent researcher who has made a significant discovery in the field of 19th-century historical literature. Despite having written several competent papers, and having done everything possible (on a low budget) to bring them to the attention of academia, no-one takes my work seriously. My impression is that "weight," as you say, has little to do with it. If one wants to be noticed, one should find a topic which is just a *little bit* in advance of the mainstream--a small, digestible advance which does not threaten the status quo, nor ruffle the feathers of anyone in high places.

According to your content; I could understand that you've been trying to understand the nature and configuration of research in your relevant area of interest.

As student of qualitative and mix research- its a huge field subject how you look into it. However, go according to subject is an art moreover it has various challenges according to nature of research you after.

Your aspiration in anthropology will drive to navigate more the gravity of your interest. Will pin down which area you'd like to explore in your field. If you manage to contain your area of interest. I can realize your experience, honorable Stephen Sakellarios . It really happens that original heavy weighted writings do not get proper attention sometimes, even some popular ideas might get that. So, the weight of a research can be measured with two yardsticks: a significant discovery in research and conducting research on popular ideas which get easy attention.

But satisfaction depends upon what I want. I think of doing some significant works, even if possible, with people's attention. I know, it is difficult, but at least I can try. I can fix this as my goal....

My first advice would be,to consider exhausting your area of preference. What did you concentrate on in your MA?As someone suggested, Modern English literature will be good,but i will advise you to examine Recent English Literature with focus on new writers.By this you can carve a niche for yourself.

Dear Clement Odia , sorry to say that I did my MA on English literature but I had no thesis. There were many courses on literature and literary theories. But as I had a presentation course, I prepared a paper on comparative literature. After my student life and during my service as a teacher at both private and public university, I tried to write on comparative literature, gender studies, magic realism. In recent years, I wrote on ecocriticism and impact of Covid-19 on learning Literature. Now I am focusing on diasporic literature. I am going through many areas only to anchor my fixed areas. I do not know which field I should work on and hence, wandering every field to check how much I know and where to anchor. Throughout this journey, I never felt satisfied with my writing as I was/am always thinking about whether the topic is heavy-weighted or not.
