I would like to submitt my paper to this Journal : American International Journal of Contemporary Scientific Research (AIJCSR), is it recognised or not ?
It is on the list of possible predatory journals at the link provided. It is likely not a prestigious journal and may even falsify their peer review in order to get your money.
I have spoken to my colleague who suggests there are a few key things I will need to consider when looking at journals to publish in:
· See if it is peer-reviewed.
· Try and find an impact factor figure/star rating. You can use Scopus/Web of Science for this but bear in mind that if it does not appear on there, this does not necessarily mean it is a ‘bad’ journal.
· You can also use this website to check where a journal is ranked: http://www.scimagojr.com/journalsearch.php but again, this needs to be used cautiously – as with Scopus and Web of Science, as there are numerous reasons why smaller journals may not appear, as we have discussed.
· Try to submit to suitable higher-rated journals in your subject field first and work your way down if you are not successful.
· See if it comes from a publisher you recognise. If not, do a bit of research around the publisher (perhaps see what else they publish for example).
· Make sure the journal you want to publish in is one suitable for your work and is one that will be read by your target readers.
A good way to do this is to try and read some of the articles that have been published in a journal and see if they seem of good quality are in a similar field to you.
Also, have a look at the articles that have been most recently published in that journal and see if there is anything similar to you.
fINALLY , Do some general research around the journal if it is one you are not familiar with.
