For sure journal publications have more weight than conference publications but i am asking about your preference. For example i like conferences a lot because i like to meet people and explore different cultures.
Nice one, Mostafa Rashdan I'm with you when it comes to conferences - they're excellent for networking opportunities. Plus, it's really fun to share ideas with other peers. But, with the COVID-19 Era now upon us, at the moment I'm all for journals. Just like everyone else, I think :-)

I think journal publications and conferences is important both in academic life. Of course we may have personal preferences, but we should not undermine the importance of the other one. Personally, I enjoy both and for various reasons. Conferences are very good platforms to share ideas, for networking and to find fellows with similar interests. On the other hand, usually journal publications have more weight and impact. Therefore, we need to balance these formats of academic activity.
I would prefer to publish the research work in an international journals rather in a conference proceeding from publication point of view. An article which is published in an international journal is rigorously reviewed (mere registration guarantees publication in conference proceedings in most of the cases), includes large volume of work (a portion of a large work is usually presented in conference proceedings), provides more visibility and circulation (millions of conference proceedings is not available online), fetches more citations (journals currently discourage to cite conference proceedings frequently) in due course and is given more weightage (every application in academic realm asks the impact factor and index of the journal).
Thank you all for your contributions. I sure agree that journal publications are more important and have more impact than conference papers. On the other hand, conferences are essential for networking.
It depends on the purpose. I prefer conferences when I need to get some feedback for scholarly works so that a strong journal papers could be produced. Conferences also provide ample opportunities for networking with scholars in the same discipline. However, in terms of contribution to the knowledge, I strongly prefer journal publications.
I always prefer to publish in journals. If a conference considers select papers for publication in a reputed international journal it is worth attending that event.
I am totaly ageree with you i like attending conferences to meet different pepoles but journals have more credit than conference papers and some times confrence papers does not show full information of the papers.
This is a great discourse. It is a known fact that attending conferences give opportunities to meet and interact with scholars across the globe in one's discipline. Thus, it is good avenue for connections, networkings and international collaborations. Meanwhile, I think journal publications are more visible than conference publications. The two must be embraced for one to relevant as an academic. If it is a matter of choice, I prefer more of journal publications to conference publications.
For me, I think most conference publications attracts less audience. They are limited to followers of such conferences. But journal publications, especially standard and international ones, have a global audience.
So, I prefer international and reputable journal publications.
