It is recommendable that computing the prevalence rate of an outcome interest in case control study? I hope the answer whould be yes. However, I am confusing that in a case control study the repondents were selected based on the case ness or non case ness condition. Meaning the case for the outcome interest was already known. Thus, in this case what the need to compute or present the revalences? If you your suggestion is yes how can estimate the prevalences? In which case can we compute it? Thank for you quick response and genuen answers in advance.
By saying the prevalence of outcome, do you mean the prevalence of a disease？In case-control study, you select!!! the comparable "case" and "control" , which means the " prevalence" of a disease calculated based on your case-control data is not a true reflection of the population. And in case-control study, we calculate the OR of a certain "exposure". Btw, I'm a bit confused by your expression😜

Since there will be intentional (not random) selection of individuals based on their outcome status (as cases and controls), the subjects will not represent (in terms of magnitude of outcome) their sources. As a result the determined prevalence will be biased estimate.
