Please help me to identify this alien species which were observed in Madampa lagoon, SW Sri Lanka. Initially identified as Hypostomus plecostomus, now being supervised for verification between Pterygoplichthys pardalis or P. disjunctivus. thanks for your time

Could you please provide photos of dorsal fin and underside of the specimen. Usually Hypostomus plecostomus has 6-8 (less than 10) dorsal rays while Pterygoplichthys spp. has more than 10 rays. Underside pattern could be used for verification between Pterygoplichthys pardalis and P. disjunctivus.

It's nearly impossible to tell the exact species only by these photos. But I think this is a Pterygoplichthys sp. , not a Hypostomus plecostomus.
