An acquaintance of mine is unsure of whether a specimen they have, which was uncovered from Carboniferous strata, is an animal fossil or simply a rock. They procured thin sections of the specimen and photographed them under the microscope. They believe the first sample (in order from the top left to bottom right) contains bone cells, that the second sample contains blood vessels, that the third sample contains haversian canals, that the fourth sample contains neurons and that the fifth sample contains neuroglial cells. Is my acquaintance correct that these images display components of animal tissue?
