thank you very much Hakima. I actually visited the site before posting, but for a new comer to modelling like me, it was not very detailed enough.

What parameters do you have from that basin? Do you want to model event based or just detect areas prone to erosion? Do you want peak discharges? There might be different models applicable for you. Maybe you can talk a bit more about your application...

why don't you contact the people who developed WatemSedem (e.g. Kristof van Oost, Louvain University, and Gert Verstraeten, Leuven University). They are very helpfull and cooperative and know their model very well.

I am interested to test my model in Zambia.

I have a very good experience with some of our colleagues from Brazil, Morocco, Italy, Iran. There is no need for special investment. You need to have geological map, topographical map, map of soil types, basic meteorological data.

I have not yet used watensedem because information is scarce and here in Zambia no one has used it. but if yours could be used to model erosion and sedimentation i dint mind. Manoah, you may try AgMERRA data to extract weather data for single points for any point in the world from 1980-2010 url: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/impacts/agmipcf/agmerra/ or Globally Downscaled Data  http://www.engr.scu.edu/~emaurer/global_data/. The other dataset such as soil data and vegetation data/land use data can be collected from the field.

TECHNICAL QUESTION ABOUT WaTEM/SEDEM:

Dear WaTEM/SEDEM users,

Does the model allow separating pasture into different parcels (20000 - n), such as in arable lands (ID 1 to n - limited to 10000)?

My study site has large grazing areas with terracing, which promotes the sediment deposition, so I thought about separating the areas between two terraces into a single parcel in order to model the sediment deposition along terraces by calibrating PTEF, as I did for the terraced arable lands.
